A Leader in Research-based
Reading Instruction
Universal Literacy was one of the first comprehensive core reading programs based on and completely aligned with Reading First research. The key criteria of this research are essential to a quality, science-based reading curriculum:
Instruction in the five essential components of reading
Explicit, systematic instruction
Teacher-directed instruction in small, same ability groups
Benchmark assessments and regular progress monitoring

Universal Literacy completely integrates the latest scientific knowledge about effective reading instruction. Research Foundations and Design: Voyager Universal Literacy System provides complete details of the research-base.
