Students complete a cold read of the passage to get a word per minute (WPM) reading goal.
Students are introduced to key vocabulary terms with definition, context sentence, picture, and sound effect.
Students are introduced to a target comprehension skill or strategy with each passage.
Students listen to, then read along, as fluency is modeled.
Students practice reading the passage independently without audio support. Words can
be clicked for a pronunciation. Bold words can be clicked for pronunciation, definition, and
text usage.
Students are timed to determine their wpm rate. Students who read at goal are
awarded points and allowed to take the quiz. Students scoring less than the passage wpm goal are
given an opportunity for further practice before doing another Final Read.
After the final read of each passage, students take a comprehension and vocabulary quiz. Points are earned for correct responses and self-correction opportunities are presented for incorrect answers.
Students return to their clubhouse to select another passage or spend the points they earned.
Teachers receive reports on student reading activity and performance. Students automatically advance when they exceed their level goal! Teachers are alerted and assign a different level if a student struggles. Voyager provides training and implementation support.
