Each year, Texas teachers and students work together to achieve the grade-level goals set by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) framework. Although many Texas students meet or exceed these goals, other students fail to reach proficiency. Those students who struggle in math often have developed gaps in their learning over the years and may not have the foundation they need to succeed. Without targeted, intensive intervention in math, these gaps will continue to grow, placing the students at risk of academic failure.
