SOLO (Strategic Online Learning Opportunities) continues each student's reading journey in an exciting online environment. Self-paced reading expeditions reinforce fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills while expanding science and social studies knowledge.

Lexile ®-leveled passages differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
High-interest passages based on Expedition topics connect with adolescent readers



Animated versions of the video teen hosts introduce reading strategies and guide students on in-depth explorations of text.


Word Bank reinforces vocabulary as students collect and deposit new and interesting words.

Ongoing assessments for fluency rate, vocabulary, and comprehension. Full access for teachers to view each student's Word Bank, reading speed, and successful first attempts.

Passport Reading Journeys Beginnings - II Passport Reading Journeys III
VocabJourney™ is an interactive, online reading program that improves vocabulary and comprehension skills for struggling high school readers. The motivating program reinforces skills taught in Passport Reading Journeys III by teaching academic vocabulary and providing additional vocabulary support for English Language Learners. The program monitors responses and adapts instruction to meet individual needs.

Available 24/7, VocabJourney extends classroom instruction and provides more flexibility and individualized instruction.

Ongoing assessments allow students to demonstrate vocabulary and comprehension knowledge.


VocabJourney uses a three-step approach—Acquire, Achieve, and Connect.

Students ACQUIRE words and practice previous vocabulary from the Passport Reading Journeys III Expeditions. Words are grouped into word sets used to build online word cards and to engage in interactive, scaffolded activities.

In ACHIEVE, students build on what they learned in ACQUIRE using larger sets of words.

   Word games and online flash cards reinforce learning and provide additional exposure to multiple meanings of words.
   Points are earned for word activities and displayed on the Leader Board.
   Progress toward mastery is demonstrated on regulary scheduled Achieve Tests and Cumulative Tests.
 

Students CONNECT the curriculum to other classes and the real world by studying words organized into categories including biology, chemistry, and world history. Students tailor their learning to match specific vocabulary needs.  

Live Ink®

Students can read both online passages and passages from the Student anthology using Live Ink, which allows students to read more comfortably and effectively in a cascading format of shorter chunks or word groupings.

Research shows that readers using the Live Ink format have improved overall reading proficiency and can transfer increased comprehension to traditionally formatted text. The Live Ink format further differentiates instruction and provides additional support for struggling students.


Teacher Center

The VocabJourney Teacher Center facilitates the blending of online and classroom instruction. Teachers identify goals and adapt instruction for the class by creating a pacing calendar for the school year. Teachers also monitor progress and view grades for assignments students have completed.
