Pasaporte Assessment uses IDEL (Indicadores dinamicos del exito en la lectura) measures, which are the Spanish equivalent to DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills). IDEL measures:
Each take about a minute to administer |
Are administered to students individually |
Accurately predict a child's future reading ability based on current instruction |
Are recorded in VPORT®, Voyager's data management system, which provides reports on growth at the student, classroom, and building level |

| The Measures |
| Measures are given at three benchmarks at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. Between benchmarks, multiple versions are provided of one or two key measures for progress monitoring, allowing the teacher to check student growth. |
| Fluidez en el nombramiento de las letras (FNL), or Letter Naming Fluency, measures the number of letters a student correctly identifies in one minute. |
| Fluidez en el segmentación de fonemas (FSF), or Phoneme Segmentation Fluency, assesses phonemic awareness, and measures in one minute the number of phonemes a student correctly identifies in individual spoken words. |
| Fluidez en las palabras sin sentido (FPS), or Nonsense Word Fluency, is an assessment of phonics that measures the number of decodable "nonsense words" a student correctly reads in one minute. |
| Fluidez en la lectura oral/Fluidez en el recuento (FLO/FR), or Reading Connected Text and Retell Fluency, respectively measure fluency and provide a comprehension check. FLO measures the number of words of grade-level text a student reads in one minute. Immediately following the measure, the student is asked to recall in one minute in his or her own words details from the reading passage. |
