Voyager Reading and Math Intervention Programs
Endorsed by the Council of Administrators of Special Education

Dallas, September 21, 2006−The Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) announced today the formal endorsement of all three research-based intervention programs produced and distributed by Voyager Expanded Learning®: Voyager Passport™, Passport Reading Journeys™ and Vmath®.

"The CASE Publication and Product Review Committee was extremely impressed by Voyager's evidence in closing the achievement gap and with the deep professionalism and commitment of its representatives," says Dr. Luann Purcell, executive director of CASE.

The endorsement of the three programs is based on the CASE Publication and Product Review Committee's rigorous evaluation of the products and research data submitted in support of the CASE Product Review Rubric, which focuses on five critical areas:

  • Research base
  • Field testing
  • Professional development practices that support CASE/CEC policy and standards
  • Company longevity and reputation
  • Product marketability and feasibility

"This endorsement is timely, because the new Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) regulations emphasize the implementation of the Response to Intervention model (RtI) as the paradigm for identifying students with specific learning disabilities. Moreover, the regulations align with NCLB's emphasis on using scientifically based, peer-reviewed instructional strategies, particularly in the areas of reading and math," says Dr. Robert Pasternack, former U.S. assistant secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services and senior vice president of special education for Voyager. He adds, "The endorsement further confirms that Voyager intervention systems provide essential elements of scientifically based research and are proven effective for all students, including those with disabilities."
