LANGUAGE! Students Exceed Expectations
Lexile Reading Scale (LRS) results
  • Students in grades 3–5 typically gain 100 Lexiles in one academic year; students in grades 10–12 typically gain 25 Lexiles in one academic year
  • Students who completed LANGUAGE! Books A and B gained 270 Lexiles; students who completed Books C and D gained 210 Lexiles
Test of Silent Contextual Reading Fluency (TOSCRF) results
  • If a student maintains the same percentile level across an academic year, then the student has gained one year’s worth of instruction
  • Students who completed LANGUAGE! Books A and B moved up 11 percentile levels; students who completed Books C and D moved up 34 percentile levels
We have an entry point for everybody, no matter what level you’re on. You are going to feel comfortable in a LANGUAGE! class. There is going to be something that you can do—and not only that, you are going to do it well. And once you feel good about what you are doing, the success will follow. LANGUAGE! Impressive Gains for High School Students
West Ashley High School (SC) began implementing LANGUAGE! as a pilot program in Spring 2009 with some of their lowest-performing freshman and sophomore students. Due to the impact of the program, the school quadrupled its implementation of LANGUAGE!.
