Voyager Passport

In accordance with California state standards, California Voyager Passport addresses the needs of all students in grades 4-8 reading at least two years below grade level. Students are assessed at the beginning of the program to determine their exact level of reading ability and receive differentiated instruction that meets their individual needs.

A Targeted Word Study component addresses the needs of students who are significantly behind their peers, including students with learning disabilities, English Language Learners, and non-standard English speakers, by providing explicit instruction at the word level. Students who score higher on the first benchmark receive focused instruction in Comprehension and Vocabulary, in addition to the Comprehension and Vocabulary instruction in the core.

For all students, additional instruction in Fluency and Writing ensures they master fundamental skills and strategies that are the foundation for their future success in school. Communication skills in listening and speaking are incorporated as logical outcomes of written communication.

Flexible Instructional Format

California Voyager Passport can be used in support of the core reading program or in place of the core for students performing markedly below their peers. The program dramatically accelerates student reading achievement by providing up to 2½ hours a day of daily classroom instruction. The flexible format enables districts and schools to tailor the curriculum to their classroom schedule. That means you can ensure that students build fundamental reading skills without taking time away from other subject areas.

Universal Access

Many classrooms have students with a wide range of abilities and specific instructional needs. California Voyager Passport incorporates supplementary instructional strategies for English Language Learners and non-standard English speakers to help them advance their English proficiency. Likewise, the systematic and scaffolded lesson format provides a proven framework for students with learning disabilities and can dramatically accelerate their reading achievement.
